Memories - Dusty Attic Moodboard April

Hello lovelies

As I type my blog, it is a warm day here in Christchurch, New Zealand. We are meant to be heading into winter, but one wouldn't think so with the warm weather.

Today I am on the blog with my moodboard project.

When I see brown tones, I always think masculine, and I am such a sucker for cogs and gears when it comes to masculine pages, so yes that is the route I followed, using a photo of my very gorgeous son:
I have used selected cogs and gears from DA2859 and D2860, nuts and bolts (DA2880) and have used the word memories from the title DA0732, as well as geometrical panel DA1037. These were all painted with black gesso before I started my page.
While these were drying I sanded my photo, and adhered two pieces of paper behind the photo for my matting. Once the chipboard was dry, I added prima waxes on all the chipboard pieces. Mostly in tones of gold, copper and silvery colours.
I first cut down the geometric panel and adhered this to the page before adding my photo.
I added the photo with foam tape to allow me to tuck in the cogs under the photo. I then started layering the cogs, nuts and bolts.
Creating layers with the nuts and bolts also looks like they are part of the industrial look I am trying to create.
I then finished off with the title - the title is packaged as "happy memories" - and I have made use of just the memories part.

I finished off with adding some ink splatters.

These are the products I have used:

You can still take part in the moodboard challenge, by entering your take on the moodboard using Dusty Attic chipboard and submitting your entry to the DustyFANattics facebook page. And you could be one of two lucky winners to win a AUD50 worth of Dusty Attic chippy!

Take care,
Michelle

Delightful - 49 & Market

Hello lovelies

I have another layout created with the Avesta range.

The base of my layout is the Avesta Essence paper, creating the cluster within the circular pattern. I have done a fair amount of fussy cutting to create the cluster using Avesta Posies paper and the Avesta  Delight paper. I have cut various flowers and leaves from both these papers.
The photo is framed with frames from the Avesta laser cut elements and then adding pieces from the Curators Essentials Remnants and Curators Essentials Laser Cuts - distressing the edges and added behind the photo before adding this to the centre of the page with foam tape. From here I built up the flower cluster with the fussy cut flowers and leaves and also adding darker flowers from the Ocean jade Royal Posies.
I have also added some tickets and the title "delightful" from the Avesta Ephemera bits pack. I have also tucked on some tags from the Avesta Tag set, using the "all my heart" title from the Avesta chipboard pack. Once the cluster was complete I added Avesta rubons from the 6x8 pack, under and around the cluster, as well as some off the 12x12 pack.
I have finished off adding the script type rubons from the 6x8 rubon sheets. I love these as they are the "mixed media" without the mess - they are really effective.

Thanks for visiting the blog.

Take care,
Michelle

Love - 49 & Market

Hello 49 & Market Fans

Here is a layout created using paper from the Curators Botanical Solids Collection Pack. I created my layout with the no 4 solid paper

To start my layout I used the Curators Essential 4" Letterbox Washitape and tore this in random pieces and adhered these to the page larger than the photo size.
I added a white washed chipboard frame to my photo and then adhered this to the page with foam tape, before creating my flower cluster using Bluejay Rustic Bouquet flowers and Fluff sugar stems
Once the flowers were adhered, I added a lace piece off the Curators Botanical Laser cut sheet, and then added rub-on leaves from the Avesta 6"x8" Rub-on pack sheet all around the flower cluster.
I finished off the end of the cluster by adding on the flower rub-ons from the same rub-on sheet

I added a butterfly from the Curators Botanical 6"x8" rub-on sheets
I used some of the older 49 and Market products (archival chipboard and the Vintage Artistry Sky/Navy rub-ons) to add some finishing touches, including adding some white paint splatters.
I then added some white roughly sewn rub-on stitching around my page.

Thank you for visiting the blog today.

Take care,
Michelle

#beautiful - Dusty Attic

Hello lovelies!

Gosh I cannot believe that is April already. The last weekend in March, we in New Zealand had the privilege of being taught by the lovely owner of Dusty Attic, Jen Hedger. It was the annual retreat hosted by our local scrapbook shop in Timaru, it was their 10th anniversary and as a treat the lovely Jen taught us two classes. We had a fabulous weekend! And we get a whole weekend of Dusty Attic scrappiness with classes being taught by Jen all weekend this weekend too.

Here is my project for April:

I painted all my chipboard with white primer first. The frame DA0254, I added two shades of colour crayons to this - watered down - pink and orange shades to match with the paper and the flowers. This was adhered to my page with foam tape. I then started with my fussy cut flowers and leaves around the frame - mostly added with foam tape, so that I was able to add the berries DA3144 under the cluster - these were lightly painted with blue acrylic paint.

The title "#beautiful" is one of a few words that you can choose from the Hashtag sayings DA1597
Also painted in the same blue as the berries
The word beauty also comes from a pack of a number of words DA1645 and the ticket on the frame "memories" is from DA1465 - all lightly dabbed with paint so as not to get the paint into the words.
And I then just could not resist adding a cute little gnome to the flower cluster. He was also painted with water colour crayons.

To finish off, I added white paint splatters.

These are the products I used (DA1597 hashtag sayings to be added):

Thanks for popping in to see the blog.

Take care,
Michelle
