Dream with your eyes wide open

Hello lovelies

As I am typing this blog post, winter has hit us down here in the South Island, NZ with a vengeance. It is snowing all around us on the main divide .. and here in Christchurch its been a mix of sunny, and a bit rainy, but very cold - quite a contrast. So, with this day being a indoors type of day,  I had the opportunity of creating a layout using this months moodboard

Such a beautiful moodboard - so soft and dreamy. I have created a layout using a photo of a close up of my daughters eye. And I love the title "Dream with your eyes wide open" I thought the dreamy and the colours all went together with the moodboard.
I started first with adding gesso to the page and then adding texture with a stencil and texture paste. Once this was dry I added different shades of brown splatters and then stamped with a script stamp. The photo is matted on various pieces of paper and then adhere to the page with foam tape but only in the centre leaving the outside open to tuck in chipboard and the flowers.
I used two flower posies - DA2634 and dabbed a light brown Prima Alchemy paint all over both of these. I then cut the daisy stem off one of the posies. The daisy and buds were painted with a darker Prima Alchemy paint. I then began layering around the photo. I adhered the full posie to the left of the photo, and then added the one which I cut off the flower under the photo.

I added some 49 and Market flowers and then added the single flower I cut from the other posie above the 49 and Market flowers on the left. I painted the Feathers by Nuneka - DA2733, in dark brown and added these under the flower cluster
The butterfly (mini Monarch DA 2385) was painted with dark brown paint, adhered to the flower and then covered with Stickles
I first embossed the title "Dream with your eyes wide open" and the title came out too orange. I then tried to cover it up with a dark brown archival ink, and some paint. It didn't quite work either. Then I added some unicorn Stickles and the colours all blended and I love how it turned out in the end - even if it has all sorts of medium on it :)
These are the products I have used:
